First he was in; then he was out.

It was reported on Monday that Alec Baldwin would be heading to Gotham City as a part of The Joker which is coming out next year.

Walk the Line actor, Joaquin Phoenix will play the “Clown Prince of Crime” who is a nemesis of Batman, while Alec was set to portray the superhero’s father, Thomas Wayne, whose death inspired a young Bruce Wayne to take on a life of crime fighting.

Citing scheduling conflicts, the 60-year-old has now pulled out of the project, telling Variety, “I’m no longer doing that movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part.”

Alec also dismissed rumour that, had he played Thomas Wayne, he would have likened the character to US President, Donald Trump.

“Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque. That is not happening. Not. Happening,” he wrote on Twitter.

Okay, then.
