Former teen-heartthrob Alex Pettyfer has opened up about his directorial debut.
A decade ago, Pettyfer had a reputation as a teen-heartthrob who was notoriously difficult to work with. He appeared in teen flicks like Wild Child and Stormbreaker and his future in the film industry has always looked optimistic.
Fast-forward to Pettyfer aged 30, and he has moved to the other side of the camera. The star recently made his directorial debut for the film Back Roads and according to Pettyfer, the experience was “life-changing”.
“It was such an amazing life-changing experience for me, creatively,” Pettyfer told NME in an interview. “Previously, as an actor, I was really focused on my own character’s arc and journey, and when you’re directing a movie this collaborative experience starts to transpire.
“You start to realise that the filmmaking experience is about collaboration and that’s key, so my whole psyche towards making films, and moving forward as an actor, has completely changed.”
