Alfred Molina will be coming back to the Spider-Man universe.

The actor played the evil Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s 2004 Spider-Man sequel and he will be reprising his role in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 3.

Molina was a fan-favorite in the film, playing Otto Octavius, a scientist turned eight-limbed villain who challenged Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

Many generations of Spider-Man actors are expected to be featured in the upcoming film including Jamie Foxx as Electro, a villain he played opposite Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film will also include Marvel Cinematic Universe crossovers like Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange.

Jon Watts is returning to direct with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers writing the script. Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Jacob Batalon will all be reprising their roles from the first two films.

2019’s Spider-Man Far From Home, is the most recent Marvel Studios film and it earned $1 billion globally making it the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie of all time.

Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for a December 17, 2021 release date.
