Shock rocker Alice Cooper has announced his new album Detroit Stories. The new album, coming out on February 26, 2021, will be Cooper’s 21st LP. His last album, Paranormal, was released in 2017. The first single from the album Rock n’ Roll was released on (how fitting) Friday the 13th.

According to Cooper the new album, which will be released via earMUSIC, will be a tribute to his hometown. Cooper said that Detroit is the homeplace for hard rock. While other cities have their own sounds—Los Angeles with The Doors, San Francisco with the Grateful Dead, and New York with The Velvet Underground—Detroit was the only city to accept Cooper’s guitar-driven hard rock and stage antics.

“Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home,” said Cooper.

The album was produced by Bob Ezrin and the duo collaborated with numerous musicians from the motor city, such as the guitarist Wayne Kramer, bassist Paul Randolph, and drummer Johnny “Bee” Badanjek.
