The Alien franchise is alive and kicking, and its next sequel will take us on one epic journey. The first trailer for Alien: Romulus finally hit the shelves, and it’s inviting us to explore the depths of space with a new group of young space travelers.

Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), and it follows a group of young space colonizers who must face the most terrifying life form in the universe on their journey to the deep ends of a derelict space station.

The cast of this project is led by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and Isabela Merced (Madame Web), who are joined by David Jonsson (Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu in supporting roles.

Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe) took over from Ridley Scott as the director of the new film, and he promises it will be a real treat for both Alien fans and newcomers to the franchise.

“I love all of those movies. I didn’t want to omit or ignore any of them when it comes to connections at a story level, character level, technology level, and creature level. There’s always connections from Alien to Alien: Covenant,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Alien: Romulus will be released by 20th Century Studio on August 16, after switching from streaming to theatrical releasse.
