This year’s award season is slowly heating up, and Gotham Awards are one of the first major awards shows to unveil their list of nominees. This ceremony will honor the best indie movies and TV shows of the past year, and the list of contenders is led by Past Lives, All Of Us Strangers, and Beef.
Celine Song’s Past Lives is one of the main contenders for the ceremony’s top award: best feature—along with Passages, Reality, Showing Up, and A Thousand and One. Song received a nod for the breakthrough director award for her work on this film, while its star Greta Lee secured a nomination for outstanding lead performance.
All Of Us Strangers is in the running for four awards, including best international feature alongside Anatomy of a Fall, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest, and Tótem. Its stars Andrew Scott and Claire Foy received acting nominations for their respective performances, while Andrew Haigh has been nominated for the best screenplay award.
When it comes to the TV field, Beef is this year’s front-runner with three nods, including breakthrough series, under 40 minutes, and outstanding performance in a new series for its leads Ali Wong and Steven Yeun.
The 2023 Gotham Independent Film Awards will take place on November 27 in New York.
