All Of Us Strangers came into this year’s British Independent Film Awards as one of the main contenders, and it lived up to the hype! Andrew Haigh’s star-studded drama walked away with seven awards at this year’s ceremony, including the best British film.
All Of Us Strangers came into the night with 14 nominations, and it was one of the main contenders for the best British film award. It had to beat tough competitions in Femme, How to Have S-x, Rye Lane, and Scrapper to take the trophy home.
Andrew Haigh collected two more awards as writer and director of this film, which also came out victorious in several technical categories – best cinematography, editing, and music supervision. It was also a great night for its star Paul Mescal, who won the award for the best supporting performance, tying with Shaun Thomas in How to Have S-x.
Thomas’ co-star Mia McKenna-Bruce defeated the likes of Jodie Comer, Andrew Scott, and Tilda Swinton to win the award for best lead performance, bringing the total of wins for this film to three. Femme also won three awards, including best joint lead performance (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and George MacKay).
The 2023 British Independent Film Awards took place on December 3, with Lolly Adefope and Kiell Smith-Bynoe hosting the ceremony.
