With music being a big part of its story, it isn’t surprising that the 2000’s comedy-drama Almost Famous came with a great soundtrack. The release was a big success and even managed to bag a Grammy Award. If you didn’t get the chance to enjoy the music from this iconic movie in the past, the summer of 2021 will be the perfect time to do something about it as the soundtrack is set to get an expanded reissue.
Hitting the shelves on July 9th, the reissue will be available in several versions, including an impressive “Super Deluxe” box set that comes with five CDs, seven vinyl LPs, a photo book, and more. This and several other box sets also come with memorabilia from the movie’s fictional band Stillwater including magazine covers and tour posters.
The music part of the reissue will come with all the songs that you can hear in the movie, including tracks from Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Neil Young, and more. In addition, fans will also be able to enjoy the songs from Stillwater in their full capacity. There will be six original Stillwater songs and seven demos included in the release.
Almost Famous follows teenage journalist William Miller who is writing for the iconic Rolling Stone magazine during the ’70s. Looking for his big break, Miller embarks on a tour with rock band Stillwater in attempts to land a cover story.
The movie was written and directed by Cameron Crowe, who partially based it on his own experience as a Rolling Stone journalist. It was a critical success and received four Academy Awards nominations while winning one for Best Original Screenplay.
