Fear the Walking Dead gave us many amazing characters, but Alycia Debnam-Carey’s Alicia Clark quickly became one of the fan favorites. Her adventures on this beloved zombie show are coming to an end after the 28-year-old actress announced she’s leaving after seven seasons.

Sunday night’s episode “Amina” marks Debnam-Carey’s last appearance on this show. Her last scene leaves things pretty open-ended so we wouldn’t be surprised to see her return one day, but she’s done playing Alicia Clark for now.

Debnam-Carey released a lengthy statement on social media announcing her departure. She explained that she needs to seek out new challenges and opportunities after playing this role for seven years, and thanked her fans for supporting her every step of the way.

“I have been so lucky to be a part of something so awesome for so long but I hope you can understand and respect my choice to further expand and grow. I wouldn’t be here without you all and I am so grateful,” wrote Debnam-Carey on Instagram.

Her departure wasn’t a huge shock because it comes only a few weeks after Debnam-Carey was cast in Hulu’s Saint X. She joined this eight-part psychological drama based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel after Victoria Pedretti exited the project over creative differences.
