The Summer I Turned Pretty hasn’t even premiered yet, but Amazon Prime is already putting full trust in this project. The streaming giant renewed this coming-of-age romantic drama for Season 2 ahead of its premiere later this month.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the novel by Jenny Han, best known for writing the To All the Boys series. Netflix transformed these novels into a successful movie franchise, and Amazon is getting ready to give Han’s other popular series a similar treatment.

Described as “a story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer”, The Summer I Turned Pretty centers on a teenage girl Isabel “Belly” Conklin, who finds herself stuck in a love triangle between two brothers while spending a summer vacation at family friends’ beach house.

Han was in charge of writing the pilot and she serves as showrunner alongside Gabrielle Stanton, in addition to being one of the show’s executive producers. The show’s main cast includes Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills.

The Summer I Turned Pretty will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 17 and the first season will feature a total of eight episodes.
