Sarah Paulson in the "American Horror Story: Cult"

We are finding more details about the season eight of American Horror Story. Series creator Ryan Murphy recently made an appearance at the Emmy FYC panel dedicated to American Horror Story: Cult (season seven) and decided to give the fans an insight into the eighth season as well.

Appearing alongside the six cast members of Cult, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman, Murphy revealed that all six actors and actresses will return for the next season. Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who appeared in every season of American Horror Story so far, will serve as directors for some of the episodes.

Ryan Murphy also said that the next season will take place “18 months from today,” and that it will more like Coven and Asylum seasons, and less like Cult that had a “grounded story.”

“It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We’re sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. It’s that tone. That’s the tone of it,” said Murphy.

He added that the production will begin around June 16.

When it comes to characters featured in season eight, it was revealed that Evan Peters will play a comedic character and that Joan Collins will be playing the character’s grandmother. Anjelica Huston is in talks to join American Horror Story in an undisclosed role, while Kathy Bates is returning to the series after making her last appearance in the sixth season titled Roanoke.

American Horror Story premiered in 2011 on FX, with each season being envisioned as a mini-series featuring different story and characters. The series received positive reviews from the critics and received numerous accolades and awards during its run.
