American Idol is rolling with the same lineup for the upcoming 20th season of the popular singing competition show. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie are set to return to their roles as judges, and Ryan Seacrest will continue to serve as a host.

Perry, Luke, Richie, and Seacrest joined American Idol in season 16 when the reality series was revived on ABC following a two-year break.

“The chemistry and passion Katy, Luke, Lionel, and Ryan bring is second to none,” said showrunner Megan Wolflick in a statement. “We couldn’t be more ecstatic that they are returning for this iconic 20th season in search of the freshest new talent that this nation has to offer.”

The 20th season of American Idol will air in the spring of 2022. The search for worthy contestants is set to start on August 6th through virtual auditions.

California-native Chayce Beckham was crowned the winner in season 19, which wrapped up back in May. The show was unable to return to its glory days in terms of viewership, managing to bring between 7 and 8 million viewers per episode. Still, this was enough for ABC to hand it a renewal shortly after the season finale.
