Hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen is coming to the big screen, and it looks really promising so far. Oscar-nominated actress, Amy Adams, is the latest star to join the cast of Stephen Chbosky’s highly-anticipated adaptation.

Dear Evan Hansen centers around a high school student with social anxiety, who gets caught up in a lie after one of the letters he wrote for himself gets mistaken for a suicide note of a fellow classmate.

Ben Platt, who originated the role of Evan Hansen on stage and won a Tony Award for his performance, will reprise his role in the movie adaptation. The cast will also include Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Colton Ryan, and Danny Pino.

Amy Adams will take on the role of Cynthia Murphy, the mother of Evan’s classmates Connor and Zoe, who’s trying to keep her fragile family from falling apart after her son’s passing. Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wonder) will be in charge of directing the movie, based on the script by Steven Levenson.
