It’s hardly a surprise that Warner Bros. is making a sequel to Aquaman — but that doesn’t mean we aren’t epically excited!

Despite the Jason Momoa film becoming DC’s highest grossing ever, the studio took its time in announcing a follow-up.

But our hopes are no longer at sea, as an Aquaman 2 is definitely on its way!

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been hired once again to pen the script, though details of the plot remain submerged. James Wan, who directed the original, is also likely to return for round 2 as he has already signed on to produce, along with Peter Safran.

Just last week, Warner Bros. announced that it would be creating an Aquaman spin-off based on the monstrous members of The Trench who featured as villains in the superhero flick.

The Trench will also be produced by Wan and Safran, though no members of the Aquaman cast will be starring in the feature.

No date has been set for the Aquaman sequel as yet, but it’s going to have to rise to the original’s global box office earnings of $1.1 billion.
