Ron Howard is busy plotting his next movie Origin of Species, and its cast will include some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Ana De Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander, and Daniel Brühl are in talks to join this highly-anticipated survival thriller.

Origin of Species has been described as “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos.” It’s based on two different accounts of the same event, and its heroes will be searching for the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life?

Howard’s latest film hails from his production company Imagine Entertainment, along with CAA Media Finance and Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios. It’s one of the buzzy projects set to launch at the Cannes market this month before the production kicks off in Queensland, Australia later this year.

Ana De Armas is fresh off her Oscar-nominated role in the Marylin Monroe biopic Blonde, and we’ve recently seen her in the action rom-com Ghosted. Law most recently appeared in Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy, and he’ll soon portray Henry VIII in Firebrand. Brühl appeared in the Oscar-winning anti-war epic All Quiet on the Western Front just last year, while the Oscar-winner Vikander recently played the lead role in the HBO series Irma Vep.
