Mia Thermopolis grew into one of our favorite on-screen princesses, and her next adventure is just around the corner. Anne Hathaway is getting ready to put her crown back on after The Princess Diaries 3 has officially been confirmed, with Adele Lim coming on board as a director.
Based on Meg Cabot’s young adult book series of the same name, The Princess Diaries centers on the awkward teen, who’s shocked to learn she’s in line to become the queen of the fictional kingdom of Genovia. Cabot’s book series produced two films – The Princess Diaries in 2001 and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in 2004, and the third installment is on the way.
Adele Lim, the director of Joy Ride and co-writer of Crazy Rich Asians, is coming on board as a director, while Flora Greeson wrote the screenplay. Debra Martin Chase is producing, with Lim, Melissa Stack, Naia Cucukov, and Hathaway coming on board as executive producers.
The Princess Diaries 3 was officially confirmed after Anne Hathaway agreed to come back in the lead role and announced her return on social media. Julie Andrews, Héctor Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Mandy Moore, Caroline Goodall, Robert Schwartzman, and Chris Pine also starred in The Princess Diaries movies, but their return is yet to be confirmed.
