David Robert Mitchell is currently plotting his next film, and he cast a major A-lister in the lead role. The Oscar winner Anne Hathaway will star in Mitchell’s mystery new film, being developed by Warner Bros. Pictures, Bad Robot, and Jackson Pictures.

At this point in time, we only know that Mitchell’s next project will be shot in IMAX, and it’s been described as a “thrill ride”. He wrote the original script, and he’ll produce alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella, and Jackson Pictures’ Matt Jackson.

David Robert Mitchell rose to prominence with his second film as a director, the critically acclaimed horror It Follows. Its follow-up Under the Silver Lake was met with mixed reviews, but that didn’t stop him from building a cult following, just like its predecessor.

Mitchell always had a keen eye for casting top talent, from Maika Monroe in It Follows to Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, and Topher Grace in Silver Lake, and he’s continuing that trend with his next film.

Hathaway most recently starred in James Gray’s Armageddon Time alongside Jeremy Strong and Anthony Hopkins. Her upcoming film Eileen was met with acclaim after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this winter, and she’ll also appear in Rebecca Millers’ She Came To Me later this year.
