If period dramas happen to be your favorite genre, Apple TV’s The Buccaneers will be your cup of tea. The first trailer for this promising series is here, and it sees a group of American girls heading to London in the hope they’ll find true love in the high society.
According to its official synopsis The Buccaneers centers on “a group of fun-loving young American girls [exploding] into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition.”
The Buccaneers is based on the final novel by the famed American novelist Edith Wharton. Its ensemble cast includes Alisha Boe (13 Reasons Why), Kristine Froseth (Looking for Alaska), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club), Mia Threapleton (I Am Ruth), Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost), and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).
Apple TV’s The Buccaneers marks the second adaptation of Wharton’s final novel, following the BBC mini-series from 1995. It will feature a total of eight episodes, and the first three are set to premiere on Apple TV+ on November 8, while the remaining five will stream weekly.
