For All Mankind took us deep into space over the course of its first four seasons, and there’s more where that came from! Apple TV+ renewed this space race series for its fifth season, in addition to ordering a new spin-off Star City, set in the same universe.

For All Mankind is set in the alternative universe where the United States failed to become the first nation to land the man on the Moon. This eventually led to them losing the space race and changed the course of history as we know it.

In addition to renewing For All Mankind, also ordered a spin-off Star City, described as “a propulsive paranoid thriller” about the Soviet cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers who won the space race in this alt-history retelling.

Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi co-created Star City with Ronald D. Moore, after their fascination with the Soviet space program grew while they were working on For All Mankind.

“The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race,” said the duo in a statement.
