Apple TV+ has given us one of their best shows in recent years with Slow Horses, and its future is looking bright. Gary Oldman and the rest of the gang will return in Season 5 of the acclaimed spy series after the streaming giant renewed it for another season.

According to Apple’s official synopsis, this “quick-witted spy drama follows a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents—and their obnoxious boss, the notorious Jackson Lamb – as they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.”

Oldman leads the series in the role of Jackson Lamb, while the supporting cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce.

Season 5 will be based on Mick Herron’s book Spook Street, and it will see Slow Horses trying to work out a series of increasingly bizarre events after becoming suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) finds a glamorous new girlfriend.

Slow Horses is one of the rare recent shows to move at rapid speed, after premiering just 18 months ago and already moving to a fifth season. Its renewal comes shortly after Season 3 arrived on Apple TV+, and its follow-up is set for a late 2024 release.
