Apple TV+ gave us one of their best new shows of 2021 with Physical, and they’re not saying goodbye to it any time soon. This dark comedy led by Rose Byrne has been renewed for its second season.
Physical is set in ’80s San Diego and centers on a quietly tormented housewife who starts her journey toward empowerment and success after discovering the world of aerobics. In addition to Byrne, the series also stars Rory Scovel, Geoffrey Arend, Paul Sparks, and Lou Taylor Pucci.
Michelle Lee, director of domestic programming at Apple TV+, praised Byrne for giving us an unforgettable tour de force performance on this show and added it will be exciting to join her as she enters the next stage of her journey. “We have been thrilled to see audiences around the world fall in love and feel seen by this show and we can’t wait for everyone to experience the next chapter in Sheila’s journey towards personal empowerment,” said Lee in a statement.
Before landing the role in Physical, Byrne received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Gloria Steinem on Mrs. America and appeared in comedy films Like a Boss and Irresistible throughout 2020.
