The news is unfortunately true! Pop star Ariana Grande and rapper Mac Miller decided to call it quits. TMZ reported on Thursday morning that the couple decided to quietly split due to their busy schedules, but remain close friends. Grande then confirmed the news via Instagram story.

“Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick,” Grande wrote alongside a photo of herself and 26-year-old rapper. “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”

“Unconditional love is not selfish. It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment, it’s not you. I can’t wait to know and support you forever and I’m so proud of you!!” she added.

The 24-year-old “Side to Side” singer also tweeted out heart emoji on her Twitter profile.

Grande and Miller collaborated early in their careers with Miller being featured on Grande’s 2013’s track “The Way.” They officially began dating in 2016.

Grande recently announced her fourth studio album will be titled Sweetener with a release date scheduled for summer of 2018. She also presented a leading single from the album, “No Tears Left to Cry.”

Miller’s latest music effort was the 2016’s album The Divine Feminine, which ended up receiving generally positive reviews from the critics. It also had a strong commercial performance, debuting at the number two on US Billboard 200.
