As Ariana Grande kept telling us, she’s so effing grateful for her ex.

And we’re grateful, too, as her past relationships inspired her new album Thank U, Next.

An ode to break-ups, Ariana’s 5th studio album dropped on Friday, February 8th .

The album’s first 3 singles — the titular Thank U, Next; Imagine; and the latest 7 Rings — have already received much success, with another 9 tracks telling the story of recently tumultuous personal life.

The last few months have included her engagement to fiancé Pete Davidson being put to bed, and the loss of former boyfriend Mac Miller who died in September.

The rapper’s death is seemingly referenced on Ghostin’ which sounds similar to Miller’s song 2009 and includes the lyrics, “Though I wish he were here instead / Don’t want that living in your head / He just comes to visit me / When I’m dreaming every now and then.”

The death of her ex was hard on the 25-year-old who thanked fans on Twitter for their support.

“This music, you guys, and my friends saved my life,” she wrote.

As for any critics? Thank U, Next!
