It’s been a couple of months since Ariana Grande surprised us with her last music video, and it turns out she’s been plotting something truly special in the meantime. The revenge-themed video for her new song, “Boyfriend” is here, and it sees her walking on the wild side.
The young singer teamed up with pop duo Social House for this epic visual, which sees her joining forces with her go-to director Hannah Lux Davis. The video shows Grande getting jealous after seeing her crush flirting with another girl, and envisioning all the things she would do to hurt her.
The goal of this song and video was to capture that feeling everyone goes through when they want to find someone to love, but have trouble fully committing and defining their relationship.
“We wanted to make something uplifting that captures that feeling of being afraid to take the leap and trust, being afraid of being hurt or feeling like you won’t be enough for that person… but also how it feels to have a crippling crush on someone,” Grande shared on Twitter.
