It’s been a while since we’ve seen Arnold Schwarzenegger on the big screen, but he’s finally ready for a comeback. The action superstar will appear in the upcoming action-thriller Breakout, which hails from The Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh.

Schwarzenegger will play Terry Reynolds, who embarks on a daring jailbreak mission after his stepson Daniel is framed and sentenced to 25 years in prison in a foreign country. To avoid capture and flee the country, Reynolds must overcome his biggest opponent an overzealous prison warden.

Sebastien Raybaud is producing alongside John Zois from Anton, Jeff Elliott, and Chad Moore from Off The Pier Productions, Cindy Cowan, Carsten Lorenz, and Danny Chan, and he’s looking forward to joining forces with the creative team behind this project.

“We are proud to be on board to make Scott’s vision come alive with the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead. This is the perfect fit for Anton’s slate to continue delivering high-quality entertainment with big scale to the global market,” said Raybaud in a statement.

Breakout will be Schwarzenegger’s first film in four years since his upcoming action-comedy Kung Fury 2 remains in post-production despite being shot in 2019. We’ll also soon see him in the upcoming Netflix series FUBAR, set to premiere on May 25.
