Max shared the song with the world during the recent MTV VMAs ceremony and dropped the music video that very day. This superhero-themed visual sees her joining forces with Joseph Kahn, who previously directed Britney Spears’s “Toxic” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” and it brings the same kind of “girl power” energy.
Max and Kahn turned out to be a match made in heaven since they had the same vision for this song, which sees the singer taking revenge on her cheating ex in a superhero costume.
“I remember sitting down with [Kahn], and I asked him if he could make me a superhero. I was half kidding, I wasn’t, like, 100 percent serious, because a superhero is really crazy and hard to do. And he looked at me and he goes, ‘I’ve always wanted to do that,’” recalled Ava Max while discussing her new single with MTV.
