The sequel to the box office smash hit Avatar has been in development for over a decade and it finally seems like we’re one step closer to seeing this movie. Filming for 2019 recently wrapped up, and a photo released from the set looks truly amazing.

The team behind Avatar celebrated the end of filming for 2019 by sharing a behind the scenes look at a massive craft called Sea Dragon. “Today was our last day of live-action filming in New Zealand, and we’re celebrating with a sneak peek – check out this photo of the aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the Avatar sequels,” reads the caption on their Instagram account.

Avatar 2 is scheduled to hit the theaters on December 17th, 2021 and three additional sequels are already being developed. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver are expected to return to their respective roles, with Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, and Vin Diesel joining the cast.
