The Little Mermaid is only one in a series of Disney classics getting a live adaptation, and its cast is shaping up to be pretty amazing. The most recent news regarding this remake is that Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay are currently in talks to join this highly-anticipated movie.

This announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that Melissa McCarthy is tapped for the role of the iconic villain Ursula. Awkwafina is in the talks for the role of Ariel’s seagull friend Scuttle, and Tremblay would take on the role of her BFF – tropical fish Flounder.

The Little Mermaid will be directed by the Oscar nominee Rob Marshall, and it will combine live action with CGI elements. Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be in charge of writing the soundtrack.

Jacob Tremblay got his big break with the role in 2015 drama Room, and went on to play key roles in Before I Wake and Wonder. Awkwafina starred in last year’s smash hits Ocean’s Eight and Crazy Rich Asians, and recently received rave reviews for the lead role in the indie dramedy The Farewell.
