Awkwafina and Sandra Oh are one of the ultimate dream duos – and their first movie together is just around the corner! The first trailer for Quiz Lady dropped ahead of the film’s TIFF premiere and it sees the duo embarking on a cross-country road trip with an unexpected final destination.
Quiz Lady centers on the brilliant but tightly wound, gameshow-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina), and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Oh). After Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped as a consequence of their mother’s gambling debts, the duo embarks on a cross-country journey with one goal in mind – turning Anne into a bona fide gameshow champion to earn the cash they so desperately need.
Quiz Lady hails from the acclaimed director Jessica Yu, who won an Oscar for her work on the documentary short film Breathing Lessons: The Life and Work of Mark O’Brien. Jen D’Angelo wrote the script and serves as one of the executive producers alongside Oh and Awkwafina.
Quiz Lady also stars Jason Schwartzman, Tony Hale, Holland Taylor, and Will Ferrell. It will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before being released in theatres on November 3 by 20th Century Studios as a Hulu original film.
