“Bad Boys for Life” Crosses the $100 Million Mark on its Second Weekend

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in "Bad Boys for Life"

Bad Boys for Life took its time arriving at the screens. However, it wastes no time showing big returns at the box office. The film is due to cross the 100 million dollars’ mark at the domestic box office this weekend–an impressive accomplishment for only two weeks of running. In its first weekend, the threequel exceeded all expectations and brought in 68 million dollars – the biggest opening day in January ever.

The film also got mostly positive reviews from critics. CinemaScore gave it an A rating and it holds a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is due to its entertainment value and the charisma of its two leading stars – Will Smith as Mar Lawrey and Martin Lawrence as Marcus Barnett.

The movie contains some plot twists and according to Smith, it was made to seem like a “modern” story. It still, of course, contains a lot of the elements that made the first two movies of the franchise successful.

Unless something very unexpected occurs, Bad Boys for Life will soon surpass its predecessor Bad Boys II in the box offices. The former movie has earned $138.6 million in 2003.
