The second season of the hit series Interview with the Vampire is underway, but one of the main characters will look quite different once it comes back. The gothic horror underwent a major casting change, with Delainey Hayles replacing Bailey Bass as Claudia in Season 2.

AMC released an official statement saying that Bailey Bass is stepping down as Claudia “for a variety of reasons”, adding that Delainey Hayles will replace her in Season 2.

“Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life in Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire… We are grateful for Bailey’s unforgettable performance in season one and wish her nothing but the best,” reads AMC’s statement.

Bass also released a statement announcing her departure, and described her time as Claudia as “a dream role and an incredible ride.” She wished Delainey the best of luck in taking over and said she’s looking forward to watching the series as a viewer.

Series regulars Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Assad Zaman, and Ben Daniels are expected to return when Interview with the Vampire returns for Season 2. The series premiered on AMC last year to positive reviews, receiving praise for its cast, tone, costumes, and writing.
