Andy Muschietti is fresh off directing The Flash, and he’s getting ready to take the reins of another upcoming DC movie. He’s set to helm the upcoming superhero epic Batman: Brave and the Bold after signing a new multi-year, first-look deal with Warner Bros Pictures.
DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran released a statement announcing Muschietti as the director of Batman: Brave and the Bold and said he seemed like the only right choice after they saw The Flash.
“We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of only a visionary director, but a massive DC fan. Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame,” said the duo in a statement.
Batman: Brave and the Bold will exist in a separate universe from Matt Reeves’s previous film, and Gunn described it as “a strange father and son story” about Batman and his son, Damien Wayne, as Robin.
In addition to agreeing to direct this film, Muschietti signed a three-year deal with Warner Bros Pictures through the Double Dream banner that he runs alongside Barbara Muschietti. This deal is just the continuation of their collaboration with Warner Bros Television Group/Max, where they’re currently developing the IT prequel series Welcome to Derry.
