“Batwoman:” First Teaser Trailer Dropped as The CW Places Series Order

Ruby Rose in Batwoman

The CW has handed out a series order for Batwoman.

The standalone superhero series is slated to make its debut during the 2019-2020 season.

Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, the series stars Orange Is the New Black’s Ruby Rose. Batwoman made its debut in this season’s Arrowverse crossover event titled Elseworlds.

Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.

The cast also stars Dougray Scott as Kane’s dad, Jacob Kane, a former military colonel who commands Gotham’s private security firm and “has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could.” Rachel Skarsten stars as Alice, leader of the Wonderland Gang, Meagan Tandy as military academy graduate Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Lucius Fox’s son, Luke and Nicole Kang as Kate’s step-sister, Mary Hamilton.
