Call Me by Your Name made Timothée Chalamet an overnight sensation, but he walked home empty-handed after the Oscars. It seems he’ll get another chance to prove himself worthy of an Academy Award this year! Trailer for his new movie Beautiful Boy just dropped and it’s already generating Oscar buzz.

Chalamet will star alongside Steve Carell in this touching drama that already moved people to tears with a brief sneak peek. Described as a story about “heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery” Beautiful Boy follows a young man who struggles with drug addiction and his father who’s doing his best to help him cope. It’s based on a true story of Nic Sheff and his father David, who both wrote memoirs describing their experience.

The trailer made it pretty clear we can expect powerhouse performances from Chalamet and Carell, but that’s not the only reason to see the movie. It’s directed by Felix Van Groeningen, who already scored an Oscar nomination for The Broken Circle Breakdown. His screenwriting partner Luke Davies also has a great track record, thanks to his work on Lion in 2016. Beautiful Boy will premiere on October 12, in the peak of awards season. Brad Pitt’s company Plan B is expecting big things from it, and judging by the trailer – it will certainly deliver.
