Spiderman 3 adds to its cast.
Multiple outlets confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to return as Doctor Strange in the forthcoming Spiderman feature, the third installment of Sony’s franchise.
News of Cumberbatch’s casting follows last week’s news that Jamie Foxx is coming back to play Electro.
Cumberbatch’s casting marks the third major crossover between the films produced by Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Doctor Strange will take on the role of Iron Man for Tom Holland’s hero, and act as a mentor for Spider-Man.
The third SpiderMan movie is scheduled to open in theaters on December 17, 2021.
