The Lion King is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and Beyoncé’s involvement is part of the reason why. In addition to voicing Nala in this live-action remake, the 23-time Grammy-winning artist will also produce and curate an album inspired by this Disney classic.

With The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé tried to create a brand-new experience of storytelling, a sought out artists of different genres, including R&B, pop, hip hop, and Afro Beat.

“I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline. Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery while listening to a new contemporary interpretation,” said Beyoncé in an official statement.

This album will be released on July 19th, the same day when the new live-action reimagining of The Lion King hits the theaters. Beyoncé gave us a taste of things to come with a new song “Spirit”, and we’re really hoping the rest of the album will be equally amazing.
