It’s been over a year since Beyoncé curated the Grammy-nominated album The Lion King: The Gift, and she has another album inspired by the Disney classic coming our way. A visual Black is King album will be released this month and the first teaser is finally here.

This visual album was written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé, and it’s been described as “a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience” and “a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present.”

The film is expected to tell a story of a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love, and self-identity. It will reimagine the lessons from The Lion King “for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”

Disney’s first teaser opens with Beyoncé’s voice, saying, “You were formed by the heat of the galaxy.” It goes on to show a series of breathtaking clips that got us excited for this highly-anticipated visual album.

Black is King will premiere on Disney+ on July 31st, and its star-studded cast includes the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams, and Naomi Campbell. Beyoncé’s kids and husband Jay-Z are also expected to make an appearance.
