“Bill & Ted Face the Music” Fans Break Guinness World Record for Air-Guitaring

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in "Bill & Ted Face the Music"

The fanbase of Bill and Ted Face the Music is an enthusiastic one and what better way to show it than breaking a Guinness world record in its name? Fans broke the world record by banding together over the internet and recording themselves air-guitaring the iconic riff from the movie. In total, 186 fans took part in the effort, which was more than enough since the goal was 100 players.

The award was presented last week on the distributor Orion Pictures’ official YouTube channel.

According to an official statement from Orion Pictures,
“Orion Pictures and BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC, with the help of the film’s most excellent fans, have successfully set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for ‘Most People Playing Air Guitar Online Simultaneously,’ bringing the most bodacious air guitarists from around the world together to celebrate the film. On August 24, 2020, 186 participants from over 20 countries around the world completed the virtual jam session with support from the Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC) as part of their #MakeAirNotWar initiative.”

The movie, the third in the franchise, sees Keanu Reeves’ Bill and Alex Winters’ Ted trying to save the world with a perfect song. Dean Parisot directed the movie with a script by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
