Billie Eilish recently revealed she wrote a song for the upcoming Barbie movie, and her new track exceeded our wildest expectations. The music video for “What Was I Made For” is here, and it sees the Grammy-winning star transforming into Barbie in her own right.

The self-directed visual sees Eilish rocking a retro yellow ensemble and sporting a stylish ponytail reminiscent of Barbie’s signature hairstyle. The video opens with the singer sitting behind a table and taking out doll-sized clothes from a black Barbie suitcase.

As the video progresses, we watch Eilish taking out tiny replicas of some of her most iconic past looks, and putting them on a rack. She’s repeatedly interrupted by rain and heavy wind, so she decides to pack it all up and walk out of the room.

Eilish wrote “What Was I Made For” alongside her brother and frequent collaborator Finneas O’Connell, while dealing with writer’s block. She was finally inspired to write something new after director Greta Gerwig showed her a rough cut of Barbie.

Barbie: The Album will also feature contributions from Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Charli XCX, Fifty Fifty, Ice Spice, Karol G, Lizzo, and Nicki Minaj, and it will hit the shelves on July 21, along with the film.
