Billie Eilish wrote the majority of her songs alongside her brother Finneas O’Connell, and her latest single “Everything I Wanted” is no different. What makes this song truly special is the fact that the close relationship between the song-writing duo served as the main theme for its lyrics.

The young singer discussed the creation of this single in a behind-the-scenes look she filmed with Beats by Dre, and explained how collaborative partnership with her brother inspired her every step of the way.

“Finneas came up with, ‘As long as I’m here, no one can hurt you.’ We decided to make it about our relationship and how we help each other and, like, deal with things together. It just completely, like, paved the way for the rest of the song,” said Eilish.

O’Connell and Eilish co-wrote all of the songs on her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and the success of this record transformed them into multiple Grammy nominees. Eilish will compete in six different categories at the upcoming ceremony, while her brother managed to score five nods.
