It’s always a joy to watch young rising stars supporting each other, and Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo seem to share a pretty strong bond. Eilish recently opened up about their relationship and revealed that her protectiveness over Rodrigo inspired the song “Goldwing”.

“Goldwing” was featured on Eilish’s second studio album Happier Than Ever, and it sees the singer addressing a young woman in a vulnerable place. She advises her to keep her head down because “They’re gonna tell you what you wanna hear / Then they’re gonna disappear / Gonna claim you like a souvenir / Just to sell you in a year.”

In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, she revealed this song was inspired by the former Disney star and “Drivers’ License” singer, Olivia Rodrigo.

“Olivia was getting big, and she was just, like, this little dainty child.  felt so nervous. I was worried about her. She came up in that acting world, and people are so weird. I don’t know – I just felt very protective over her,” said Eilish.

The Grammy-winning artist explained that Rodrigo wasn’t the only reason why she wrote “Goldwing”, but added she was thinking about her at the time because she was the first young female artist to break into superstardom after her.
