We can count on Billie Eilish to create quite a stir every time she announces a new album, and she outdid herself the third time around. She rocked our world after announcing the release of her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft, set to hit the shelves this May.

Eilish’s album announcement was preceded by several pretty interesting hints. She kicked off the promo with a series of billboards featuring her new lyrics and used her Instagram stories to tease the album after adding all of her followers to her “Close Friends” list.

The singer’s fans were overjoyed to feel so included, and they welcomed the announcement of her new album with open arms. Eilish’s third LP will officially be called Hit Me Hard and Soft, and she announced it by sharing the dreamy album cover, which shows her floating in the deep blue waters, after seemingly falling through an open white door.

Eilish’s official album announcement described her new LP as a journey through “a vast and expansive audio landscape, immersing listeners into a full spectrum of emotions.” It will be released on May 17, and we won’t get to hear any singles beforehand because Eilish believes it’s a cohesive album “ideally listened to in its entirety from beginning to end.”
