Billie Joe Armstrong has said that he has written six new Green Day songs.

Being on lockdown may be a nightmare, but the upshot is that next year, we can expect lots of great music from our favorite artists. With fewer distractions, many musicians have been taking the time to focus on writing new material. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is one of these musicians.

“I had all these melodies in my head, so I wrote, like, six songs since all of this has been going on,” Armstrong told Kerrang. “I don’t know when I can get together with Mike [Dirnt, bass] and Tré [Cool, drums], but I told them to make sure that they’re quarantined for now, and then I hope down the road we can get back in the studio with [‘Father Of All…’ producer] Butch Walker.”

In addition to writing music, Armstrong has confessed that he has been binge-watching The Office and hanging out with his pet dogs. He said that he has been “going through all of my punk and rock’n’roll documentaries, trying to read a little bit here and there, and hanging out with my dogs.”

Father of All… is out now.
