“Black Monday” Receives Season 2 Renewal

Some Mondays are blue, but this last one certainly wasn’t.

It was black, instead.

Showtime has announced that it will be renewing its comedy that focuses on Wall Street, Black Monday.

Set in the 80s, in the year leading up to the infamous stock market crash known as “Black Monday”, the series stars Don Cheadle who also serves as executive producer.

Andrew Rannells, Regina Hall, and Paul Scheer also star, with Seth Rogen acting as one of the show’s producers.

Black Monday mines big comedy from the greed, the style, the music, and the excess of the ’80s, but it’s also sneaky smart in its social commentary about that era – and indirectly, our current era as well,” said Showtime’s President of Entertainment, Gary Levine. “We can’t wait to see what inspired depravity [producers David Caspe and Jordan Cahan] will cook up in Season 2.”

The series’ sophomore season will consist of 10 episodes that will debut next year.
