It’s been four years since A Simple Favor took the world by storm, and the hit movie has finally been granted a sequel. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively both agreed to reprise their role in the highly-anticipated follow-up, while Paul Feig is coming back as a director.

A Simple Favor is centered on a small-town mommy blogger Stephanie (Kendrick), who takes it upon herself to solve the disappearance of her new mysterious and elegant friend Emily (Lively) after she goes missing. As she starts digging deeper into Emily’s secrets, she discovers that her perfect life isn’t what it seems.

A Simple Favor received critical acclaim and became a box office hit, earning $97 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. In addition to Lively and Kendrick, it also starred Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Rupert Friend, and Jean Smart, but it’s still unclear if any of the supporting stars will return for the sequel. Paul Feig is returning to direct, while Jessica Sharzer is writing the screenplay.

Kendrick most recently starred in the HBO Max series Love Life and we’ll soon get to see her in Alice, Darling. As for Lively, she didn’t take any acting roles since The Rhythm Section in 2020 and is currently gearing up to make her directorial debut with Seconds for Searchlight.
