Kevin Shields from shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine has said that the band will release two albums next year.

“We’re trying to finish a short album of material… it was going to be an EP in the summer, but we decided not to and decided to make it longer,” he said in a Japanese interview. “We’ll also be recording new material next year. There will be a lot of new material coming in the next year, there will be about two new records.”

If the news is true, then this is exciting stuff but when it comes to My Bloody Valentine, a healthy dose of skepticism is recommended. The band released their flawless second album Loveless in 1991 and gained a huge following of fans eager to hear what the band would make next. Unfortunately, the follow-up didn’t come until 22 years later with MBV, which was released in 2013.

More news on the potential upcoming MBV albums when it is announced.
