Idris Elba best start getting used to having his martinis shaken.

After 5 years of rumors, it appears as though the Luther actor might be close to achieving the coveted role of James Bond.

Incumbent 007, Daniel Craig, confirmed a year ago that he would be donning his tuxedo for one last time as he takes on the character in Sam Mendes’ Bond 25 which comes out next year. The announcement by the 50-year-old came after he previously said that he would rather slit his wrists than star in another Bond film.

With the role now up for grabs, and many actors names having been thrown in the hat, the producers behind the secret agent series have given an indication as to who might just be their future leading man…

Barbara Broccoli reportedly told director Antoine Fuqua that it is time for Bond to be played by a black actor. “Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with physically strong presence. Idris has that,” he said.

Better hit the gym, Elba.
