Joker beats Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and reclaims the No. 1 spot on the box office charts.

Warner Bros.’ Joker is atop the domestic box office charts, again, defeating Disney’s Maleficent sequel $18.9 million to $18.5 million.

This box office twist follows the news that the Todd Phillips-directed feature has become the top-grossing R-rated pic of all time worldwide, with its global haul currently at a whopping $849.1 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie, has been a domestic box office disappointment, with only $65.4 million. Luckily its numbers overseas are better with $228.1 million.
