The roaring 20s were one of the most iconic eras in American history and the first trailer for Babylon revisits them in style. Damien Chazelle’s new film stars Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie and it perfectly encapsulates all the glitz and glam of 20s Hollywood.

The official logline describes this film as an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles and a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, which traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.

Babylon is set during Hollywood’s big transition from silent films to talkies, and it centers on a young Mexican-American actor (played by newcomer Diego Calva) pursuing a career in 20s Hollywood, starting as an assistant and rising through the ranks.

In addition to Pitt, Robbie, and Calva, the star-studded cast of Babylon also includes Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart, P.J. Byrne, Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Max Minghella, Katherine Waterston, Samara Weaving, and Olivia Wilde. The film focuses on a mixture of fictional and historical characters, including Pitt’s wild mega-star Jack Conrad and Robbie’s up-and-coming actress and party animal Nellie LaRoy.

Babylon will have its limited theatrical release on December 25, before expanding wide two weeks later.
