Quentin Tarantino is getting ready to bid his farewell to Hollywood with his next film The Movie Critics, and he’s bringing one of his frequent collaborators on board. Brad Pitt will join forces with Tarantino for the third time for his final film The Movie Critic.

It was rumored that The Movie Critic would follow the journey of Pauline Kael, but it seems Tarantino decided to go in a different direction. He dropped some hints about this project while chatting with Deadline at the Cannes Film Festival last year, revealing it would center on a cynical movie critic who used to write reviews for an adult magazine.

The Movie Critic would be set in southern California during the 1970s, and Tarantino described its titular character as “a guy who really lived, but was never really famous”, adding his reviews were “a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle might be if he were a film critic.”

Pitt previously collaborated with Tarantino on Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which won him an Academy Award for best supporting actor. He’ll next be seen in Jon Watts’s action thriller Wolfs alongside George Clooney and Joseph Kosinski’s untitled Formula 1 drama.
